HOWARD MAHAN’S NEW ALBUM “HOPE ON CREDIT” IS A MASTERCLASS IN SONGWRITING
There’s something truly special about an artist who can take life’s complexities, distill them into melodies, and deliver songs that strike right at the heart. Howard Mahan, the gifted guitarist, singer, and songwriter, is doing just that with his upcoming album, Hope on Credit. Scheduled for release on February 14, 2025, this album promises to be a tour de force of thoughtful lyrics, unforgettable hooks, and the kind of storytelling that stirs the soul… especially if you know Howard. And—I do. He’s thoughtful, creative, highly intelligent and extremely talented. So when he shot me a text sharing his vision for his Album Cover and asking if Adam could make it happen, we happily agreed and we nailed it.
Hope on Credit, is a nod to the moments in life when hope feels like the only thing we have left to borrow but we still need to be “positive and grounded” when we are going through the rough patches. We’ve all been there and felt that. What sets Howard apart as a songwriter is his ability to tell vivid stories while crafting melodies that stay with you long after the music stops. Every track on Hope on Credit feels like a chapter in a larger narrative, blending poetic lyrics with dynamic instrumentation.
While Howard’s songwriting is undeniably the heart of Hope on Credit, his musicianship elevates the album to another level. Known for his virtuosic guitar skills and soulful voice, Mahan brings a depth and authenticity to his music that’s impossible to fake. His Bluesy, Americana-Rock-infused style provides the perfect canvas for his lyrical storytelling, creating a sound that feels both timeless and fresh.
The production on Hope on Credit also deserves a mention. Mahan recorded with notable Duane Trower at Weights and Measures Soundlabs in Kansas City, Missouri and worked with Jacque Garoutte, Vivid JoJo and Jimmy Lacey, a collaboration that has added layers of richness and texture to the album. From the stripped-down emotional instrumental moments to full-band crescendos, every track feels meticulously crafted yet emotionally raw.
