Blake + Peri
There are engagement sessions where you ease into the day with golden light and mild temperatures… and then there are sessions like Blake and Peri’s, where winter shows up loud, unapologetic, and absolutely determined to make you earn the photos.
St. Louis did not come to play.
That kind of cold that makes your eyes water?
Yeah. That cold.
And honestly? There’s something kind of magical about it. The way people naturally move closer. The way laughter comes easier because what else can you do when your face is half numb? The photos from the Arch feel intimate, raw, and very real—exactly what we want from an engagement session.
But eventually… survival instincts kicked in.

Venue: St. Louis + St. Louis Central Library
Photography, Black Moon Media LLC

Enter our hero of the day: St. Louis Central Public Library.
If you’ve never stepped inside, let us say this loudly for the people in the back: WE’RE SO THANKFUL FOR THIS PLACE. Not only did it save us from frostbite, it gave us one of the most elegant, timeless indoor backdrops you could ask for. Warm light, grand architecture, quiet corners—suddenly winter felt romantic instead of cruel.
Blake and Peri instantly relaxed. The cold red cheeks turned into soft smiles. The shivers turned into easy movement. And the contrast between the bold, outdoor Arch shots and the refined, cozy library images? Absolute perfection.

We even snuck in a couple of headshots for them since the light was SO GOOD!

This session was a reminder of why we love winter engagements (even when we’re questioning our life choices at minute fifteen): they’re honest. They’re unscripted. And they tell a fuller story. Not just of a city, but of a couple who can laugh together when things get uncomfortable—and still look incredible doing it.
Blake and Peri, thank you for trusting us, braving the cold, and letting the day unfold exactly as it was meant to. St. Louis showed us all its moods, and you met every single one with grace, humor, and a whole lot of love.
